The Grateful Nuts

Guest Writer Policy

"Your story might just be the lighthouse that guides someone safely home."

Thank You for your interest in sharing your experience, strength, and hope with The Grateful Nuts Community!

Recovery from mental health and/or addiction is a very personal topic, and while many of our stories share similarities, every experience is different. Keeping that in mind, here are some basic guidelines for your submission:

  • Your submission should be between 1200-2500 words in length.
  • Please write from your own experience, as it relates to your own recovery or relationship with someone in recovery.
  • If mentioning other people is an important part of your story, please be sure to use only first names, change the person(s) name, AND remove any non-pertinent identifying information.
  • Your submission, in its entirety, must be original content, and not previously published on any digital or print platform.
  • We cannot accept duplicate or syndicated content.
  • All media (images, videos, artwork, etc.) must be your own property. Where this is not possible, permission for use must be obtained from their original owner.
  • Likewise, if your submission references another individual’s or groups’ intellectual property, please make sure to include the appropriate links, citations, and permissions where necessary.
  • We would like to preserve your authentic story, and writing style, there are instances in which certain words, phrases or content may be censored out of consideration for our audience. Similarly, a trigger warning may be issued at the beginning of the article if we feel your submission touches on difficult or sensitive topics.
  • As the author, you reserve the rights to your submission. However we strongly encourage and ask that your work is not subsequently published without undergoing significant edits.
  • Please feel free to promote your post on your social media accounts, newsletters, and/or direct link through on your blog and/or website. In doing so, you can include a snippet of your submission, with links to the original post on our website.
  • In addition to your submission, please provide us with a 150-200 word bio about you, your brand, company, or organizations. This is a great opportunity to share your mission with a larger audience, links to merchandise, books, podcasts, or other projects you may be working on.
  • When preparing your submission we request that we receive your writing in a word document file to our email help@thegratefulnuts.com Additionally, images should be submitted through email as high-resolution jPEG or PNG fie format.
  • **PLEASE NOTE:** The Grateful Nuts reserves editorial control and to edit, revise, or tweak submissions as necessary. (A proof of the final edits will be provided prior to publishing. You reserve the right to terminate the agreement at any point prior to publication.)
